WHEREAS, the Student Health fee poses an obstacle to pursue higher education for incarcerated students since they are unable to afford additional fees, since they are ineligible for Federal Financial Aid; and
WHEREAS, the request to waive the Student Health fee for incarcerated students is due to their inability to access student health resources on campus, since they are confined and unable to access campus; and
WHEREAS, the Associated Student Government Committee approved this request during the May 8, 2017 meeting; and the Student Affairs Committee approved this request during the May 11, 2017 meeting;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board with the recommendation of the Superintendent/President waive the Student Health fee for incarcerated students as of the 2016-2017 school year.
