Formerly Incarcerated Resource Resolution

WHEREAS, recidivism rates by state vary but California is among the highest in the nation.

According to a 2012 report by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, just over 65% of those released from California’s prison system return within three years. Employment after release was 13 percent higher among prisoners who participated in either academic or vocational education programs than those who did not.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the SSCCC embrace a program or a resource center that helps formerly incarcerated individuals’ transition from prisons to campuses.
